As we have grown so much over recent months, it seems like a great time to start introducing you to our ever expanding team, so over the forthcoming weeks, we’re going to be sharing our bi-weekly staff focus feature…
Introducing Silvia, a key staff member and part of our House Management team.
It isn’t easy to get Silvia away from her super organised jam-packed schedule but we managed to steal a few minutes with her to ask a few questions and get inside her world.
What brought you to working with Privadia?
Before I joined Privadia I’d been working in Travel and Hospitality for many years. I’ve had various management roles working for some of the world’s leading brands in Luxury travel including the Jumeirah Group and Hilton Hotels & Resorts. I was looking for a role within an ambitious company where I could utilise my many years of experience and develop my career.
I did some local research and found Privadia who have an excellent reputation on the Island and a highly experienced management team. I decided to contact them directly as I was eager to find out more about their unique offering and to see if there were any new opportunities within the business.
As it goes my timing was perfect as Privadia was experiencing particularly high volumes of bookings from their international agents and they were recruiting for an additional house manager to join their growing team.
After a two staged interview, I was offered the job and I’ve been proudly supporting Privadia’s villa owners and guests ever since.
Please tell me a little about your background
I was born in Tuscany and my first language is Italian, I also speak fluent Spanish, French and English. Before I moved to Ibiza I owned a small chocolatier business making handmade truffles and delightful homemade ice creams.
I completed my studies in Travel and Tourism in my early twenties and have been fortunate to have travelled across the world throughout my career in the industry. However, Ibiza is now my home and where I feel most content.
How do you like spending your spare time?
I love to get out into nature and explore. For me, there is nothing better than heading out to a secluded private spot to meditate and soak up the energy of the sun and spirit of Ibiza… the magical island!
What is the first thing you do when you get into the office?
I’m usually one of the first people in the office so my first job is to check any overnight messages from our guests and managers and act on any urgent matters. I then take a few minutes to plan my day and make sure any requests are organised and responded to quickly. Sometimes we can have up to 300 people staying in different villas at any given time, so I have to be super organised to make sure I can respond quickly.
What is the most challenging part of your role?
Communicating changes and timings are my biggest challenge on a day to basis. We plan our schedules tightly but circumstances are often out of our control e.g. if a flight is delayed or cancelled. When changes happen they have a knock on effect for our whole team which needs a super quick re-group and an updated plan for the remainder of the day ahead. I find the key to managing these challenges is communication and to operate swiftly and regularly to ensure everyone is kept up to date.
Where do you see Privadia going in the next few years?
Privadia is growing at an incredible rate and I can already see our teams are starting to form solid and proficient departments. We’re also forming new partnerships from all over the world, so it’s great to meet new people year on year.
Privadia is always looking for talented and passionate people to join our growing team. If you’re interested in working with us, please submit your CV or drop us an introduction email to firstname.lastname@example.org
